Meet the Eagles' Newest Addition: Adam Berry as Assistant General Manager

The Philadelphia Eagles have made some exciting changes to their front office, announcing the promotion of Adam Berry to assistant general manager. Berry will be taking over for Alec Halaby, who recently left the team. This move brings the Berry brothers full circle, as Adam's twin brother Andrew has been the general manager for the Cleveland Browns since 2020.

What makes this hire unique is that Adam Berry has a non-traditional background for a high-level NFL executive. Prior to joining the Eagles in 2023 as the director of football operations and strategy, Berry had a successful 14-year career at Goldman Sachs where he was a managing director and head of U.S. loan trading. In just one year, he was promoted to vice president of football operations and strategy, showcasing his talent and potential within the organization.

As a native of Bel Air, MD, Berry brings a diverse perspective to the Eagles' front office. He played college football as a wide receiver at Princeton, where he was also voted team captain during his senior year. Berry graduated cum laude from Princeton with a bachelor's degree in economics and minors in political economy and African American studies.

It is worth mentioning that in November of 2020, the NFL approved a proposal that rewards teams for developing minority coaches and front office executives who go on to become head coaches and general managers for other organizations. This initiative, known as "Resolution JC-2A," aims to promote diversity and equality within the league. If a team loses a minority coach or executive to a head coach or general manager position with another team, they will receive a pair of third-round picks as compensation.

The Berry brothers are both African American, making their success in the NFL even more significant. Unfortunately, the Eagles were not able to benefit from the JC-2A program when they lost Andrew Berry to a general manager position in 2020. But if they eventually lose Adam Berry to a GM job with another team, they will be awarded a pair of third-round picks.

In addition to the promotion of Adam Berry, the Eagles also announced several other updates to their scouting department. One notable addition is Mike Maccagnan, who was the general manager for the New York Jets from 2015 to 2019. These changes demonstrate the Eagles' commitment to continuously improving their organization and surrounding themselves with talented individuals.

The Eagles' front office is now in the hands of two talented and driven brothers, who are committed to making a positive impact on the organization. With the support of the JC-2A program and an ever-evolving scouting department, the Eagles are in a strong position to continue their success on and off the field. Let's see what the future holds for the Berry brothers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
