As the NFL preseason kicks off, teams are already facing some tough luck with injuries. The Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans found themselves in a particularly unlucky situation when their trade involving safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson seemed to be cursed on Thursday.

Gardner-Johnson, who was set to join the Texans for their morning practice session, went down with a knee injury. Initial fears were that it could be a torn ACL or Achilles injury, which would have put him out for the entire season. However, further testing revealed that it was not as serious as originally thought and ruled out an ACL tear.

While the Texans breathed a sigh of relief, the Eagles were dealt another blow later that day when Green left their preseason game with an apparent wrist injury. The severity of his injury is still unknown, but it is never a good sign when a player has to leave a game due to injury.

Gardner-Johnson was a valuable player for the Eagles last season. The Texans were hoping to add his talent to their defense, but now they may have to wait until he is fully recovered.

On the other hand, the Eagles were in need of offensive guard competition, and Green seemed like a upside addition to Stoutland U. However, with his injury, his availability for the upcoming season is now in question. The Eagles may have to look elsewhere for depth on their offensive line. He wasn't likely to start, but the Eagles have had several different O Lineman make appearances over the last few seasons. Jack Driscoll, Landon Moving back to Center and Steen to Guard. It seems like CJGJ is hurt every other year and Howie was playing those odds like a fiddle. If Kenyon could've turned around his first round pick pedigree anywhere it'd be in Philly. We will have to wait and see on how both parties make out!
